NSCSC Fundamentals of Earthmoving Program

Join the Nova Scotia Construction Sector Council’s Fundamentals of Earthmoving Program. The 8-week eight person program, starting on July 29th and ending on September 20th, is open to all Canadian citizens and Permanent Residents with a grade 10 education, high school diploma or a GED.

What the Program Includes

  • An intro to the heavy equipment trade.

  • Industry relevant safety training (WHMIS, Basic First Aid training).

  • In-class theory and hands-on training activities with industry equipment.

  • Additional training in Telehandler and Forklift operation.

  • Trades Math, Skills for Success, and Job Readiness workshops.

Who Can Apply

  • Applicants must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident, and a resident of Nova Scotia.

  • Open to residents of Nova Scotia with a focus on attracting individuals from equity deserving groups including Indigenous Peoples, African Nova Scotians, Racially Visible Individuals, Persons with Disabilities, Newcomers and Women.  

  • Additional prerequisites for the program include completion of grade 10 (minimum), copy of transcripts, and resume.

  • Applicants must also possess valid drivers license and have access to reliable transportation.

  • Applicants to this program may also qualify for financial support. Please discuss at the time of application.
