Respectful Workplaces with a Safe and Healthy Work Culture Will Attract Talent and Help Build Your Business.
To compete in today’s economy, your workplace needs to prioritize welcoming women and gender-diverse people. The business case is strong.
Hiring women in traditionally male-dominated industries such as the trades, involves making changes to existing gender and workplace norms. While women have made significant strides in breaking down barriers and stereotypes in the workplace, the reality is that gender bias and discrimination still exist. This can make it difficult for female and gender-diverse workers to feel included and safe in their jobs.
Employers in the trades need to take proactive steps to create a welcoming and inclusive environment for all workers. This includes providing proper training to employees on issues such as equity, anti-racism, gender inclusion and cultural competency.
Creating a safe and supportive work environment is not only the right thing to do, but also benefits the entire organization by fostering creativity, innovation, and productivity. There are MANY resources available to employers that can help create a more equitable and inclusive workplace. We encourage all employers to create the time, space, and investment in equity work to diversify their workplaces and support safety for new people coming to job sites.
