NSCSC Introduction to Bricklaying Program

Join the Nova Scotia Construction Sector Council’s Introduction to Bricklaying Program. The 10-week 12-person program, starting on September 16th and ending on November 22nd, is open to Canadian citizens and permanent residents living in Nova Scotia.

What the Program Includes

  • An intro to the Bricklaying Trade.

  • Industry relevant safety training (WHMIS, OHS, First Aid, Fall Protection, Aerial Lift).

  • In-class theory and hands-on training activities.

  • Trades math, effective communication, & job-readiness training.

  • 2 weeks of monitored work placement with a local employer.

Who Can Apply

  • Applicants must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident, and a resident of Nova Scotia.

  • Open to residents of Nova Scotia with a focus on attracting individuals from equity deserving groups including Indigenous Peoples, African Nova Scotians, Racially Visible Individuals, Persons with Disabilities, Newcomers and Women.  

  • Applicants to this program may also qualify for financial support. Please discuss at the time of application.

  • Through this program, participants may be connected with relevant organizations including the International Union of Bricklayers & Allied Craftworkers Local 1 Nova Scotia, the Nova Scotia Apprenticeship Agency, and local employers.
