The Program
An introduction to the Construction Craft Worker Trade
Industry-relevant safety training (WHMIS, Confined Space, Fall Protection, Workplace First Aid and CPR)
In-class theory and hands-on training in Formwork and Concrete tasks
Trades Math, Skills for Success, and Job Readiness Workshops
4 weeks of monitored work placement with a local employer
Who Can Apply
Open to residents of Nova Scotia, with a focus on attracting individuals from equity-deserving groups including Indigenous Peoples, African Nova Scotians, Racially Visible Individuals, Persons with Disabilities, Newcomers, and Women.
Individuals must be Canadian citizens, permanent residents, or work permit holders legally entitled to work in Canada (excluding those in Canada under the Temporary Foreign Worker Program), and Nova Scotia residents.
Through this program, participants may be connected with relevant organizations including the Labourers’ International Union of North America – Local 615, the Nova Scotia Apprenticeship Agency, and local employers.
Applicants to this program may also qualify for financial supports. Please discuss at time of application.
