Government of Canada Union Training and Innovation Program

The Government of Canada has created the Union Training and Innovation Program, a new funding opportunity for organizations that support Red Seal journeypersons and apprentices, and contribute to reducing Canada’s emissions. The funding aims to support skilled trades training across Canada.

Important Information

Application Period

  • June 20, 2024-September 5, 2024.

  • Applications must be submitted on September 5th by 3:00 pm, Eastern Daylight Time (EDT)

Funding Information

  • Up to $10,000,000 per project.

  • Projects must end by March 31, 2030.

Who Can Apply

  • Organizations that are located and operate in Canada (except in Quebec)

  • Unions representing workers in the Red Seal trades

  • Organizations managing training trust funds for unions representing workers in the Red Seal trades

  • The following organizations, if they have a partnership with a union representing workers in the Red Seal trade:

    • Not-for-profit organizations

    • For-profit organizations

    • Provincial, Territorial, and Municipal governments, agencies, institutions, and Crown Corporations

    • Indigenous organizations

Information Sessions

The Government of Canada will hold information sessions in July and August 2024. If interested, please email edsc.dgop.sca-cas.pob.esdc@servicecanada.gc.ca. and specify the information session you want to attend and your preferred language of English or French.

  • July 11, 2024, at 11:00 am, EDT (French)

  • July 11, 2024, at 1:00 pm, EDT (English)

  • August 14, 2024, at 11:00 am, EDT (French)

  • August 14, 2024, at 1:00 pm, EDT (English)
