TRAINING OPPORTUNITY: FREE 8-week Scaffolding Program at the Carpenter Millwright College with the Empowering the Next Generation Program
Take part in the FREE 8-week Scaffolding Program at Carpenter Millwright College from September 28th-November 20th.
From the Empowering the Next Generation Program:
We are excited to share this upcoming opportunity on behalf of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters (UBC), for a FREE 8-week Scaffolding Program offered at the Carpenter Millwright College, 1000 Sackville Drive, Lower Sackville, NS.
The program runs for 8 consecutive weeks, from September 28th through November 20th. It is a fully funded program through YESS.
Participants will receive:
4 weeks of in-class training, including:
1 week of safety training
3 weeks of the UBCJA Level 1 Scaffolding Program
Paid in-class training at the provincial minimum wage, based on 35 hours per week (non-taxable)
4 weeks of paid on-the-job training, compensated at the first-year apprentice rate as outlined in the Local 83 Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA)
In addition, participants will receive a full toolkit and all required PPE at no cost, which they will be able to keep upon successful completion of the program.
Support is also available for eligible participants, including:
Travel reimbursement of up to $70 per day for the first 20 training days, or reimbursement for public transit passes for the duration of the program
Childcare support of up to $25 per day, per child for those who require it
There is currently a strong demand for scaffolders in Nova Scotia, and successful participants may receive long-term employment opportunities upon completion of the program.
