NSCSC Introduction to Roofing Program
Join the Nova Scotia Construction Sector Council’s Introduction to Roofing Program. The 10-week fifteen-person program, starting on August 19th and ending on October 25th, is open to Canadian citizens and permanent residents living in Nova Scotia and have a high school diploma or a GED.
What the Program Includes
An intro to the Roofing trade.
Industry relevant safety training (WHMIS, OHS, First Aid, Fall Protection, Aerial Lift).
In-class theory and hands-on training activities.
Math, effective communication, & job-readiness training.
2 weeks of monitored work placement with a local employer.
Who Can Apply
Applicants must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident, and a resident of Nova Scotia.
Open to residents of Nova Scotia with a focus on attracting individuals from equity deserving groups including Indigenous Peoples, African Nova Scotians, Racially Visible Individuals, Persons with Disabilities, Newcomers and Women.
Applicants to this program may also qualify for financial support. Please discuss at the time of application.
Through this program, participants may be connected with relevant organizations including the Sheet Metal Workers & Roofers International Association - Local 409, the Nova Scotia Apprenticeship Agency, and local employers.
