TRAINING OPPORTUNITY: NSCSC Insulator Pre-Employment Program

Join the Nova Scotia Construction Sector Council’s Insulator Pre-Employment Program. The 9-week twelve-person program, starting on July 7th and ending on September 5th, is open to Canadian citizens and permanent residents living in Nova Scotia and have a high school diploma or a GED.

What the Program Includes

  • An intro to the insulator trade

  • Industry relevant safety training (WHMIS, Fall Protection, Aerial Lift, First Aid, Confined Spaces, Asbestos Awareness, Ladder Safety)

  • In-class theory and hands-on training activities

  • Math, effective communication & job-readiness training

  • 2 weeks of monitored work placement with a local employer

Who Can Apply

  • Applicants must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident, and a resident of Nova Scotia.

  • Open to residents of Nova Scotia with a focus on attracting individuals from equity deserving groups including Indigenous Peoples, African Nova Scotians, Racially Visible Individuals, Persons with Disabilities, Newcomers and Women.  

  • Applicants to this program may also qualify for financial support. Please discuss at the time of application.

  • Through this program, participants may be connected with relevant organizations including the International Association of Heat and Frost Insulators and Allied Workers Local 116, the Nova Scotia Apprenticeship Agency, and local employers.
