Learn more about the upcoming Women Unlimited program, a free 14-week career exploration program starting in January 2024 for women from diverse backgrounds and communities.

Program Overview

More than 1,000 women have participated in the Women Unlimited program and more than 88 per cent have gone on to training and/or to careers in trades and technology. This unique, free program at NSCC is designed to help women explore a range of careers in trades and technology where women remain underrepresented. In Women Unlimited you:

  • Visit trades and tech shops, use basic tools and tour worksites.

  • Refresh math, technical and communication skills.

  • Learn safe workplace practices.

Admission requirements

High School Graduation Diploma or equivalent. You must also identify as a woman and be:

  • At least 18 years of age by the time the program begins.

  • Unemployed, underemployed or working less than 20 hours a week and not in a school, college or full-time adult-learning program.

  • Available to attend 14 weeks of full-time programming.

  • Entitled to work in Canada.

  • Referred by a third-party agency such as Nova Scotia Works or Department of Community Services - Employment Support Services.

This free program is intended to serve as a bridge to other post-secondary programs. Upon completion, you’re:

  • Ready to make informed decisions about your future career.

  • Eligible to enrol in a School of Trades and Transportation program or a technology program in our School of Technology and Environment.
